Moments of Mercy serves the community by meeting individuals where they are and guiding them toward stability, hope, and a better life. Guided by faith, love and hope – we are lifting lives one MOMent at a time!

With our experience –

God’s Strength-

we are giving them Hope again!

Have you ever thought of having all your belongings in one cart? This is all this person has in life and it is in this cart. I don’t know about you but I personally want to make her life better. We have helped her with toiletries, basic needs, a couple blankets, and meals. Also, we went to where she was and filled out her application for SNAP benefits but even more than that – Love – hope – kindness and we pray with the individuals. We meet them and love them right where they are. We are truly blessed to be a part of their lives.

Moments of Mercy was born out of a journey that ran through darkness and ended in restoration. For 35 years, addiction controlled my life. I had a college degree in accounting, a marriage, two wonderful wives during my lifetime, and two excellent children, but addiction still tore everything away. I went to prison seven times in the state of Florida. I became homeless. My life fell apart piece by piece.Three years ago, when I reached the very bottom, I finally cried out to God and said, “Enough is enough. Lord, restore me. I am broken.” From that moment, God lifted me up and rebuilt my life from the ground up. Even during my addiction, my girlfriend at the time, Mercelee, and I would feed the needy whenever we could. Serving others was the one thing that kept a spark of hope alive. As our lives were restored, that simple act grew into a purpose.Today, that purpose is our nonprofit: Moments of Mercy. We exist to feed the hungry, support the homeless, and bring hope to people who feel forgotten. Our work is guided by gratitude for the second chance God gave us, and we carry that mercy forward to everyone we serve.Moments of Mercy is more than a name — it’s our mission, our calling, and our promise to the community.

Pedro Ortiz, President of Moments Of Mercy

  • Moments Of Mercy was placed in the hearts of individuals that knew the truth about the bondage of addiction and homelessness. God transformed my life and now this vision come to reality is here. Our heats are all in. I am not ashamed of where I came from – It has made me the individual I am today, A true servant of Jesus my Lord and Savior.

I am Mercy- I came from the streets of Tampa – I was also homeless and addicted to drugs for 25yrs- to be honest I know the streets very well. This here is an old friend that helped me out so many times out there. I know a lot of their stories – and unlike me they are still struggling. God has blessed me with freedom from addiction and homelessness and it is my turn to help them live the purpose God has for them. We need your help to turn these communities around. They are not on the streets because they want to. We are here raising money not only to help them today but to give them a hope and a future by wanting to build a homeless shelter that is faith based and ran by individuals that went from homelessness to the abundant life. This will provide not only shelter but the building blocks that they need to get acclimated back into society.

After addiction, homelessness, prison and living in the homeless shelter, I realized the people needed a MOM- a Moment Of Mercy.”
